Recently I got my hands on a Lenovo ThinkPad X200s. A ultra-compact and portable 12.1″ notebook for the mobile road warriors. It is similar to Lenovo ThinkPad X200 except that it’s lighter and less powerful.
The notebook comes in the familiar clean and professional matte-black look (some argued it’s boring). But still, the design was sturdy and solid to the feel.
Right side of the notebook comes with 1 USB, 1 earphone, 1 microphone and 1 modem.
The left side consists of 1 power jack, 1 heat fan, 2 USB, 1 VGA, 1 Ethernet, wireless switch and 1 ExpressCard 54mm slot.
12.1 WXGA (1280×800) screen, 150GB Hard Disk Drive, Wifi/bluetooth, 2GB RAM and Integrated Graphics. The cup beside is my coffee.
This model comes with Intel® Celeron® M processor 723 (1.2GHz, 1MB L2, 800MHz FSB) processor. I will be using this notebook for emails, word processing, chatting, etc. Nothing that uses a lot of processing power.
Keyboard is nice to the touch and no irritating rattling to disturb other surrounding folks.
The X200s comes with standard red-colored TrackPoint only (no touchpad – believe to save space).
The Lenovo ThinkPad X200s also comes with an integrated camera for your video conferencing needs.
Extra red TrackPoint rubber for replacing worn ones.
My old trusty IBM ThinkPad T42 which I have used for 3 years. Right side comes with a dvd/cdrw drive.
IBM ThinkPad T42 – Left side comes with 2 USB, 1 modem, 1 Ethernet, 1 earphone, 1 microphone, 1 heat fan and 2 PCMCIA slots.
IBM ThinkPad T42 – behind is a parallel port and a power jack.
Forgive me for the dust as I have not wipe it for ages.
My old IBM ThinkPad T42 comes with 15 inch screen, which I will miss dearly. Ha ha!
Size comparison – old IBM ThinkPad T42 (left) and new Lenovo ThinkPad X200s (right).
The Lenovo ThinkPad X200s screen was bright, clean and crisp although I was still not getting used to a the 12.1 inch yet.
I always have the feeling that my IBM ThinkPad T42 screen (left) is somewhat yellowish. This is further confirmed when I place it side-by-side with my new Lenovo ThinkPad X200s. Both notebooks are showing a blank page in Firefox.
Running PC Marks on both notebooks. IBM ThinkPad T42 did not manage to complete successfully and I didn’t bother to re-try.
